Are you looking forward to give an aesthetic look to your lawns or parking spaces that require thorough modification? Installing artificial grass is the best solution when it comes to emphasizing the landscape solutions, even for other industries like the hospitality industry. One can see a lustrous view of greenery in hotels, resorts and spas and other businesses, all because of installed synthetic turf which gives you a comprehensive look and feel like natural grass.
It is amazing to know that artificial grass installation doesn’t require much time and money involved for its maintenance. For making the synthetic grass look greener, the grass makers have introduced yarns with a lower luster, skinnier blades and a softer feel to make the appearance and feel of the grass more realistic.
There is no requirement for mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing or pesticides for Synthetic turfs. It helps in reduction of your water bill, looking great year-round and is broadly available for installation in most metropolitan areas. They are so identical in looks, which makes it impossible for one to believe and distinguish it from the original grass unless it is closely inspected.
Following steps need to be undertaken for installing Artificial Grass:
1. All the weeds, existing grass and plant material from the area needs to get cleared. For making the job of installation easier, one need to use equipment or a sod-cutter instead of a tiller, otherwise a tiller can destroy the dormant weed seeds and make a mess out of it.
2. For killing off the existing lawn or weeds, one should use a non-selective herbicide and use it as per the package directions in order to prevent any harm caused to nearby plant material. Whichever method is selected, one should clear the area, several days before installing your synthetic turf.
3. A decomposed granite (DG) works well, when on adding a 2-to-4 inch layer of crushed aggregate of DG gets spread over the entire area for creating a positive drainage underneath the synthetic turf. Finished grade i.e. the height of the ground needs to be ascertained in the earlier steps in order to know whether further excavation of the area is required or not. One may not wish for the elongated length of the installed turf near to the surrounding area, instead it should spread it in an aggregate form by using a water sod roller for flattening and leveling this base.
4. Install a 15-to-25 year weed fence over an aggregate base, supporting it with landscape staples which are available at most home improvement centers. One may wish to see the weeds springing up through the new “lawn”. One should employ the best-quality weed fabric as compared to the lesser-quality fabrics whose performance doesn’t seem to be good at all times.
5. One should make sure that their faux turf needs to be rolled out to the area measurements. If one may want to use several pieces over a large area, then all the pieces should get laid out with the blades going in the same direction. Closely paid attention will give your finished product a more professional and polished look when it seems not to be. The turf need to be cut for fitting the area by using a carpet knife or a box cutter.
6. Seam the pieces together, using 4 to 6 inches of indoor-outdoor carpet seaming tape as per the package directions, or use 6-inch landscape staples. Attach the turf to the composite base with 6-inch galvanized nails by positioning ½ to 1 inch in from the edge of the turf and every 4 to 6 inches along the perimeter of the turf. One should get started on one side so one can pull the turf tightly on the other side.
7. An infill material needs to be applied such as #30 sandblasting sand with a drop spreader at a rate of 2 pounds per square foot. Sandblasting sand has been tumbled for removing the sharp edges and has no harmful dust to breath- in. Once the infill material has been spread, a soft-to-medium bristled push broom sets on to work to infill into the turf, which works against the grain of the turf. Brush smoothly and with attention, getting the infill to the base of the turf fibers.
What a difference! I love my yard. The, kids, the neighbors and even the dog love the artificial grass. All I can say is OMG! It changed the look of the entire home.
